First Snowfall? You Tell Me!
Monday, October 27, 2008
When do YOU think we will get our first snow? I already tossed my hat out for December 17th. Scientific? Not really but folks wanted a date so I came up with it via a secret way that only my massage therapist will know! Ha, ha. I know but scientific experts and some nature signs point towards a somewhat inconclusive winter forecast (go to: http://www.ametsoc.org/chapters/oregon/meetings.html for info on last week's OMSI AMS meeting and forecaster's ideas) and that weather conditions could go either way. However I recently heard from one source that says otherwise so stay tuned for that. IT could be a roller coaster ride but then again it may be a rough one indeed.
Meanwhile it has been so dry that forest fires have occurred close to home near Lake Merwin and east of Battle Ground. In late October? Out of the past 22 months, only three have been average or above rain wise.
It will be two years next month that we had a record rainfall here in Vancouver: 13.31 inches, over seven inches above average. It has been downhill since then. When will our wetter weather return? Stay tuned.
